ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-MU17-BK 10.1 Inch Black Netbook Reviews

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Without a doubt, ASUS is known for its innovations when it comes to netbooks. The competition has certainly become tighter, with brands like Samsung, Acer and Dell also catching up. But what made the ASUS Eee series such a success are its light weight, high functionality, flexibility and classic look. Even when other computers catch up with the looks and flexibility departments, what is good about ASUS is that it has combined all these features very well and made it affordable at more or less, $300.

Reviews on Seashell 1105PE would tell you that among its basic features and strengths are its 11-hour battery life, 10.1-inch screen that uses LED backlight with a color shine feature for brilliant displays, a chic keyboard that is 92% of a full-sized or regular laptop keyboard, quick connectivity features with Wi-Fi, storage flexibility featuring a card slot for MMC and SD, built-in web camera, expanded drive that gives a total of 250 GB, and convenient keyboard shortcut options. Of course, it also has the standard 3 USB connectors, VGA Output and slots for the input jacks for the headphone and mic. If you have used a netbook from ASUS before, you can expect all those features enhanced in this newer model.

The ASUS Eee Netbook also comes in a glossy, elegant look, taking inspiration from a seashell, as its name also suggests. Its shiny exterior is resistant to scratch, so that using it daily should not be a problem. It is perfect for work and travel because of its long battery life that beats other netbooks of its kind. In addition, you won't have a problem with the Operating System that uses Windows 7. As usual, the netbook comes with the usual adapter, manual, warranty card and recovery/support CD. With its battery, it weighs 2.8 lbs. Indeed it is not the lightest netbook available, but when you consider all its features together with memory capacity, storage, keyboard size and a lot of other features, it is among the lightest of its kind, too.

Ease of portability is also identified as one of the key strengths of this product. And what makes it highly portable aside from its weight is the fact that people would like to bring it wherever they'd go because internet connectivity is fast and simple using WiFi. The startup is quite efficient as well, and reviews point out that the adoption of FastBoot and LocalMe features means that the netbook starts up in only a few seconds. With LocalMe, a GPS sort of application is introduced, one which can be used for easy internet access to local networks and areas where a person wants to go.

The key to buying the best netbook lie primarily on knowing what you want and what you need. Youwill easily find that the ASUS Eee 1005PE-MU17-BK is top of the line when it comes to the most essential features like performance of the processor, RAM capacity, battery life, shortcut key options, dimensions and weight, plus connectivity.

This is a great computer to take to a hotel.... It is not meant for solid home use; the keyboard is too small, and the memory isn't great.

You can actually use the keyboard, but I do find myself pecking with one finger a lot, which is why I didn't give it a five star. The speed is pretty fair, and the wireless connection is awesome. I can get a signal in a room that I could not get on my wireless laptop, which makes it a nice little computer to use in my bedroom if my husband is on our main computer. I previously had no way of connecting to the internet in that room, but thanks to this computer and our wireless system, I can.

It was easy to set up (almost no set up required), easy to figure out, for this novice, and easy to connect to the internet. The Linux, which the salesman warned me about, and my teenager told me I would hate, was not an issue at all. It doesn't take any prevous knowledge of how to use linux. It was easy to connect to the internet at the hotel and at home.

It serves my purpose perfectly (throw in a back pack to take on vacation to connect to the internet). I haven't really done anything with documents. It doesn't have a lot of memory or a place to put a dvd..., but you can use a card... for memory and add an external disk drive. I wouldn't want to type a whole lot on it. It is best for net surfing, checking e-mail..., but like I said, you can use the keyboard. It just takes a little more effort than a full size.

I bought a little mouse to go with it, and it is handy dandy! I also like the little neoprene or whatever it is called cover (quite awesome). It is great protection for it. I put the mouse and cord in a little make up bag and throw in my back pack with it.

Knowing I had bought this eepc for my youngest daughter, I was expecting it to last only a year or so. When it wouldnt charge after 8 months, I was very disappointed and then began to search for a "new" battery. I had checked the adapter and saw no cracking in the wire or any defects. I thought to myself, why not try an adapter first and see if we can milk the battery for all it has left. Sure enough, this company offered a new adapter at such a reasonable price I couldnt refuse. It was either buy milk and adapter, or battery and kool aid. Guess which won. The shipping was super fast and the adapter worked. That little computer was working before my daughter got home from work. She was so thrilled, she almost acted like I had bought her a new one! May sound extreme, but when a teenager spends most of their time on a computer, it does become an important part of their life. If you are asking yourself if you should or shouldnt get this adapter, let me say this; this company is great and works with you. Get it, you can always return should it not be an answer to your problem. As for me, Im very thankful!!!!!It works just fine!!
